ESTÉE Lauder was a glamour obsessed teenager when she started mixing her own face creams and selling the “jars of hope” in local Queens hair salons. Now her venerable brand is unleashing a hip new beauty collection created for today’s young Estées: millennials with a lipstick in one hand and a cellphone in the other. Called the Estée Edit and available at Sephora, it features bold colors, playful formulas and next-level skin care for the selfie generation. The 82-piece line was inspired by its guest editors, Lauder spokesmodel Kendall Jenner and global beauty contributor Irene Kim, a Korean blogger and model known for her rainbow hair, glowing complexion and street style. Between the two of them they have more than 50 million followers on Instagram and an encyclopedic knowledge of the latest cool cosmetics. They also collaborated on the development of eight guest-editor favorites. Jenner is so excited about her signature eye-shadow palette that she’s “low-key freaking out inside and my head is, like, exploding,” she tells fans in avideo. The $48 mirrored compact contains 14 shades, including two glow-in-the-dark “transformers” with black-light technology. “I think this palette is super me — obviously, because I created it. I’m very simple, so like, a lot of the colors are pretty simple,” she says of the beiges and browns. “Purple is my favorite color, so I had to add it in there.” Two social media-worthy innovations are “Flash Po Powder,” a $32 blue-hued powder that brightens skin for the camera, and “Flash Po Gloss,” a $20 bluetinted lip lustre that can be worn alone or layered over lipstick. “It makes your teeth look whiter in a po!” says Jenner. “I keep it in my bag all the time.” New videos for @esteelauder on @voguemagazine… major! #KJ4EL A video posted by Kendall Jenner (@kendalljenner) on Feb 5, 2016 at 5:59am PST A skin-care standout is the $50 Pink Peony Overnight Water Pack, a moisturizing and antioxidant-boosting water-gel mask. “It just feels so nourishing and great on my skin, plus it’s super-hydrating,” says Kim. Mix-masters who love to experiment with color will reach for a $22 “Lip Flip” lipstick in black or yellow. These can be worn solo or layered over lipstick for a twist. What does Jenner think of the shade transformers? “Obsessed,” she says. “Sick!”
